Installation inside the Disney Ward at the Scunthorpe General Hospital

Scunthorpe Hospital

Xtag Medical are incredibly proud that Scunthorpe General Hospital of Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust have continued their custom with us. After 12 years of our baby tagging devices being installed in their hospital, we have now been commissioned to install our system on their paediatrics ward.

The Disney Ward at Scunthorpe is their paediatric ward, caring for children and young people from birth to age 16, who require treatment for a range of general medicine conditions.

We can’t wait to offer our security solution to the ward, with installation beginning next week.

New Tag & Strap Releasing Soon

Due for release this summer our new baby Xtag will be smaller with a ‘sports band feel’ for comfort; IP67 rated, so water-proofed for bathing and dip sterilising; and in an anti-bacterial casing to minimise infection risk. These simple to use tags will have a life span of over three years and will alert staff if removed from baby’s leg, or come loose or slip off when babies lose weight.

The new disposable straps are now in packs of single use pre-cut lengths, also of soft non-absorbent ‘sports band’ anti-bacterial material, for comfort and safety.

The new tags and strap are backward compatible, so can be used with all existing XTAG systems.

The largest ever investment into NHS Wales, of £350 million, has enabled the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board to commission Laing O’Rourke to build this new 560 bed acute care Hospital to serve the people of Gwent and South Powys, due to open in 2021.

XTAG Medical, whose system is currently operated by the Royal Gwent and Neville Hall Hospitals in the Anuerin Bevan UHB, was selected to provide the baby tagging system for the new state-of-the-art Maternity unit.
